Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I try Beginning Yoga?

If you are looking to try stretching along with breath work and some strength building, they may want to start exploring  beginning yoga. The first step is to decide what wants to be accomplished and start looking for the right practice that can help with that.  The great thing about yoga is that there are so many different types out there, one is always the right fit!

What type of yoga should I practice?

There are quite a few different kinds of yoga out there, each type should be checked out according to what the practitioner is looking to accomplish.  If someone is looking to improve their breath work they might not want to try a hot yoga.

How often should I take yoga classes?

A beginner should start practicing yoga at least three days a week.  When a person starts their practice it might be difficult to commit.  But once a routine is set and there are designated days of the week, yoga can actually become part of a daily schedule.  Yoga can be practiced more often than three days, but to see results three days is a good starting point.

How do I know which yoga class is right for me?

We offer a variety of classes for beginners, since Power yoga is such a vigorous workout, some beginners may not like this.  The instructor is always cueing, telling students what yoga poses to do and assisting them with their breath work. For a beginner, it might be more enjoyable if they start off in a slower class.  A class where their teacher can guide them through each pose.

What should I expect in my first class?

Yoga for beginners is an introduction to the basics of the yoga practice.  Breath work along with a flow of postures even alignment are what yoga for beginners focuses on.  Sometimes there are demonstrations that are given in the class, or workshops.  The instructor will also give directions along with verbal cues.

Can I do yoga every day?

Yoga is the only exercise that can be done everyday.  However, every body is different.  Maybe more vigorous practices should only be done a few days a week and the other days should be set aside for relaxing, easy stretching yoga.  Beginning yoga can be slow and easy, or it can be challenging for the individual.  Everyone is different and has different needs.  Beginning yoga can be practiced as often as the practitioner wants, although, they should always listen to their body and to what the body is saying.
