Everyone will benefit from Restorative Yoga. This is a practice that is for the stressed, those who feel exhausted, or even depressed. It is not only gentle and therapeutic, but it actually restores and revitalizes those who practice. When we turn our attention inward and relax completely, we restore our depleted energy. This yoga practice often uses props, blankets, bolsters, straps, or blocks. Each posture is held for a long period of time, maybe 3-5 minutes, enough time to allow for an internal shift, an internal surrender. This also gives your muscles permission to relax, both mentally, physically and emotionally. Restorative yoga is a passive practice with very little movement. This yoga has been proven to reduce the affect of stress related disease, anxiety, depression and digestive dysfunction. Daily activities can cause a feeling of weakness or fatigue, this practice is for those times.
